A confident smile can make all the difference in how we feel and how others see us. Over time, teeth can become discolored due to coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, or simply natural
aging process. While over-the-counter whitening products may promise results, they can’t match the effectiveness and safety of a professional whitening treatment at a dental clinic.
Why choose professional whitening?
- Safe and controlled – The treatment is performed under the supervision of an experienced dental professional, ensuring both comfort and protection for your teeth and gums.
- Fast results – There is noticeable whitening after just one session, compared to weeks of at-home products*.
- Long-lasting effects – With proper care, your brighter smile can last for months**.
At Hitomi Dental, we use advanced whitening materials and light systems designed to gently lift stains and restore the natural brightness of your teeth. Whether you are preparing for a special occasion or simply want to refresh your smile, professional whitening is a safe and effective solution.
Here is a step-by-step of the teeth whitening treatment at Hitomi Dental:
Prior to whitening, a special Airflow teeth cleaning is recommended. The whitening process is more effective after removing tartar, plaque build-up, and stains.
After cleaning, we put a protective gel on your gums and then the whitening agent—a premium-class hydrogen peroxide solution—is applied on the surface of your teeth. We then shine a high energy blue light on your teeth for approximately 10 minutes. This process is repeated three times. To protect the teeth from further cavity formation, we apply fluoride paste as the final step of the treatment.
*The result of the combined session (Airflow teeth cleaning and whitening) is usually 1-3 tones whiter after one treatment. Results depend on the previous condition of your teeth and lifestyle habits, such as how many colored drinks you consume and/or whether or not you smoke.
**The effect usually lasts for 3-4 months, depending on lifestyle habits and the quality of personal oral hygiene.

Teeth Whitening Q&A:
Q: How long does a teeth whitening session take?
A: The cleaning and whitening session takes approximately 3 hours and starts with the Airflow teeth cleaning.
Q: Should I consider whitening if I have sensitive teeth?
A: You should consult your dental care specialist before considering both in-office and at-home whitening, but in most cases sensitivity after the whitening process doesn’t last long. The following post-treatment steps will help reduce further sensitivity:
・avoiding the triggers such as hot and cold foods and drinks as well as overly sweet and acidic snacks and drinks for 3-5 days post-treatment
・using a soft-bristled brush to avoid damaging enamel
・using a room-temperature mouthwash solution
Q: How often can I have an office whitening done?
A: If there are no underlying dental diseases, it is safe to have in-office whitening done 2 times a year. To maintain the result, you can use the at-home whitening kit 2-3 months after an in-office treatment.
